Born in Basel, Switzerland, in 1943. After completing his apprenticeship and diploma in fashion design, Mark emigrated to California in 1964 where he spent several semesters studying industrial and automotive design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.

He opened his own studio, MSD, in LA in 1969, designing consumer products, gradually evolving into actual car design and development for international car makers. Ski and other sports equipment, medical instruments, robotics, luxury wrist watches and video games were added to his areas of design expertise. Opened MSD (Europe) in 2002 in Montreux, Switzerland.

Mark's first love is car design. He anticipated and helped to create new car design trends such as minivans, pickup trucks and SUVs, with emphasis on the unique and carefree California lifestyle. Clients include Renault, Peugeot, Jeep, Rolls Royce, Subaru, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Kia and others. He is active in consulting with international car makers and suppliers to this day.

Researching, forecasting and envisioning what future models of the world's automakers will look like, Mark had his illustrations featured in 50+ publications worldwide. His automotive fine art paintings hang in many private and corporate galleries and car museums in the U.S. and Europe. He's been teaching car design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and Art Center (Europe) in Vevey, Switzerland, for over fifteen years (1987-2002).

Mark was awarded Car Man of the year 2015 in Switzerland and is on the advisory board of the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard, C.A.
